Have you ever wanted to listen to free music, or even download it? I know i have, but instead of downloading limewire or another p2p (peer-to-peer) client, i decided to explore. After much exploring and contemplating, i have come up with a Top 3 list of websites that will let you listen and share music online, legally. These websites often host their own music and often come with social networking. So you can listen to music AND socialize with your friends. Often, websites that offer these kinds of deals, come with a catch. I know that rhapsody.com (the company that made realPlayer) offers you a 25 play count and after that, you have to pay… While these websites merely require you to sign up to socialize, their audio quality is comparable to that of rhapsody and other pay-to-listen websites. So here we go!
1. Deezer.com - This site, although only recently discovered by me, has turned out to be one of the best i have ever visited. The free services that are offered are simply exceptional, from music playlists, to a Smartradio (chooses your music based on which music you turn down). For music enthusiasts, this is the site to go to.
2. Projectplaylist.com - Another site that offers free services, projectplaylist works differently. Rather than hosting all those songs on their servers, the website simply searches millions of websites for the music you are looking for. The search results appear in an instant. This website is like the Google for music.
3. imeem.com - This website is like another myspace/facebook, but with much better music capabilities. The services are free, with a fast sign-up of course. Although the website is very popular in other countries, it just never kicked off in the United States.
Good Luck Listening!
